Latvia blasts Brazil to clinch FIBA WC QF spot

QUEZON CITY--Latvia pulled off a huge third-quarter storm to blitz past Brazil, 104-84, in their FIBA World Cup Round of 16 knockout game on Sunday night at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta.

Latvia outscored Brazil, 36-21, in the third period to break the game wide open as the latter never got to recover in the end.

Andrejs Grazulis led Latvia, the sixth team to enter the quarterfinals, which begin on Tuesday night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, with 24 points on 11-of-15 shooting, three rebounds, five assists, and two blocks.

Arturs Zagars added 17 points on 5-of-7 field goals, two rebounds, and three assists.

Bruno Caboclo put up 20 points on 7-of-11 field goals, seven rebounds, two assists, and one steal for Brazil.
