MAKATI - Smart Omega gathers three crucial points to lift themselves up in the standings as they bring down a resilient TNC Pro Team 2-0 to end their Week 3 campaign in the MPL Philippines Season 12 on Sunday.
Both teams retained their main five despite both of them losing to defending champions ECHO in 2-0 sweep.
Omega engaged in a convincing Game 1 victory, 13 kills to just five, with them targeting King Cyric "K1NGKONG" Perez's heroes banning five of them as well as denying the Baxia, with the TNC jungler picking Grock instead.
Duane "Kelra" Pillas' Irithel dealt the most damage against TNC getting nine kills and two assists but it was seasoned roamer Joshua "Ch4knu" Mangilog who grabbed the MVP nod with the Minotaur, getting 13 assists in the game.
Omega continued their momentum going into the second game but a hook from TNC's Ben "Benthings" Maglaque's Franco to Kelra's Beatrix spelled the beginning of a potential comeback for TNC, with Jetson "Goyo" Ignacio's Novaria and John Vincent "Innocent" Banal's Irithel dealing the damage for TNC in the late game.
However, a Kelra takedown on Goyo in the 26th minute prompted Omega to start their comeback, bringing down all TNC players one by one, and with both Benthings' Franco and K1NGKONG's Fredrinn going down the count, Smart Omega rushed to the exposed TNC base to claim all three points.
It was skipper Patrick "E2MAX" Caidic's signature Xavier that took the MVP nod with five kills and 17 assists without falling once, while Kelra's Beatrix tallied a 14/3/6 KDA performance.
Both teams will have a three games in Week 3, with TNC taking on ONIC Philippines and Smart Omega facing AP.Bren on Friday.
