MANILA - MDL Philippines issues their verdict around Blacklist Academy LTX's case surrounding their player management on Monday.
The development league's committee has found the Blacklist's MDL team "guilty of mismanagement which resulted in poor working conditions of the players," with the judgment issued on all MDL Philippines' social media handles.
This is in response to a Spin.ph article last week revealing the poor conditions of the players, including little to no food and salaries given to them, as well as lacking a proper boot camp days before the league started.
MDL has imposed Blacklist Academy, the one who has a slot in the developmental league, a corresponding fine, as well as the two sides coordinating to ensure that the players will have a suitable boot camp and fulfill their contractual obligations.
The committee will also conduct a workshop will all the teams in the league.
"Moving forward, the league will conduct a workshop to help empower players when dealing with similar situations and continue facilitating safe and open dialogue should any issues arise. We will also coordinate with all teams to set a requirement to ensure that players are provided with a conducive work environment by their teams," the league said in the press statement.
The team's parent team, Blacklist International, has recently terminated their partnership with Malaysian organization Team Lunatix, and has since took over the management of the MDL team.
Blacklist Academy currently is dead last in the MDL PH Season 2 standings with a 1-6 record and three points, with their first win against MHRLK Esports, coincidentally a day after Blacklist Academy departed from their partnership with LTX.
