PASIG--Could this be Gilas Pilipinas' "chosen dozen" to Hangzhou?

Exactly 12 players were present when the national team began a mad dash to the Asian Games on Monday at the PhilSports Arena.

The "usual suspects", namely Scottie Thompson, Japeth Aguilar, and June Mar Fajardo, took part in the practice session that ran for two hours.

Justin Brownlee, who is recovering from a bone spur surgery, and Ange Kouame, who is preparing for a potential stint in Europe, also joined the Gilas practice.

The rest of the attendees were Chris Newsome, Stanley Pringle, Terrence Romeo, Calvin Oftana, Jason Perkins, Mo Tautuaa, and Calvin Abueva.

Gilas interim coach Tim Cone earlier said that everyone who would be present on Monday might make up the Final 12 for the Asian Games, which means Romeo and Abueva might be donning the national team uniforms again five years after the infamous Gilas-Australia brawl.

Thompson, Aguilar, Fajardo, Brownlee, Kouame, Newsome, and Oftana were apparently retained from the initial list of the Gilas team for the Asian Games with Pringle, Romeo, Perkins, Tautuaa, and Abueva becoming the replacements.
