BACOOR—Bacoor City slayed the ghost of Game 1 and beat Iloilo at home, 72-61, in the deciding game of their MPBL South Division first-round series on Saturday night at the Bacoor City STRIKE Gymnasium.

Back at their own turf two weeks after letting the United Royals steal the series opener, the Strikers made sure this time that they protect their homecourt edge by playing solid defense.

Bacoor City set the tone early on by racing to a 22-12 lead against Iloilo in the first quarter, and the home side kept their visitors at bay the rest of the way.

James Kwekuteye led Bacoor City, which will face Zamboanga in the South semis beginning next Saturday still at home, with 15 points, three rebounds, and one steal.

Fresh from clinching his 1,000th career point last week, Jhaymo Eguilos added a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds with three rebounds and one block.

Jhan Nermal also had a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds with two assists and two steals, while Yvan Ludovice chipped in a perfect 3-for-3 shooting including 2-of-2 from long range for eight points with two assists and one steal.

Josh Flores led Iloilo with 15 points, five rebounds, and one assist.
