MANILA—Chiba played like a well-oiled machine right after the halftime break ripped TNT in the third period en route to a 93-75 win at the start of the EASL season on Wednesday night at the Funabashi Arena in Japan.
Just up by one point at the half, the Jets soared over the Tropang Giga in the third period, outscoring them, 26-12, to pull away for good.
DJ Stephens and Ira Brown each scored 19 points with Brown finishing with a double-double after also tallying 12 rebounds for Chiba.
Quincy Miller led TNT with 22 points, six rebounds, one assist, and three steals.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson struggled in his first club basketball game back since winning an Asian Games silver for Jordan, only making 6-for-28 from the field including 0-of-9 on threes for 15 points.
Calvin Oftana, whose Gilas Pilipinas squad beat Hollis-Jefferson's Jordan for the gold, was not activated for the game as the Gilas management gave him 10 days off.
