Expect bigger and more exciting competition as the Inter-Scholastic
Athletic Association (ISAA) fires off its 15th season October 26 at
the FilOil-EcoOil Centre in San Juan City featuring a six-game schedule.
Defending three-peat champions La Consolacion College-Manila
(LCCM) and runner-ups ICCT Colleges battle separate rivals to open up their
campaigns in the annual sporting spectacle with the theme, “Moving On, Stronger
Together 2.0” hosted by the Air Link International Aviation College (ALIAC).
The Blue Royals hopes to start their drive for four straight
titles on a winning note against the returning Immaculada Concepcion College (ICC)
Blue Hawks at 1:30pm. The Blue Dragons, on the other hand, battle bronze
medalist Treston International College (TIC) Golden Lions at 8am.
This year’s hosts Blazing Phoenix, celebrating its 40th
founding anniversary this year, take on the University of Asia and the Pacific
(UA&P) Dragons at the stroke of noon.
PATTS School of Aeronautics and Saint Dominic College of
Asia (SDCA) mark their much-anticipated ISAA comeback at 3pm. The Seahorses return
to the league after missing Season 14, while the Red Pikemen are back after last competing in Season 10.
Philippine Women’s University (PWU) and WCC Aeronautical and
Technological College round off the game date with their seniors match-up at 4:30pm.
In the lone juniors’ division match, LCCM will also begin its
quest for a four-peat against the ALIAC Baby Phoenix at 9:30am, a rematch of
last season’s final.
Ten teams will be participating in the seniors category, and
will play a single round-robin tournament of nine games each. The four teams with
the best records will march on into the semifinal round, with the top two
holding twice-to-beat advantage. Semifinal survivors will then meet in the
best-of-three finals.
Meanwhile, four teams make up the juniors competition, with
the two best teams in the double-round robin preliminaries entering the finals,
also a best-of-three.
Other sports to be contested this season are men’s and women’s
volleyball as well as minor sports like badminton, table tennis, futsal and
chess. Women’s basketball will make its debut this season.
The league earlier welcomed its partnership with Sinag Laya
Asya and will feature all games through SLA’s YouTube and Facebook pages.
