BACOOR—San Miguel seemingly confirmed on Tuesday that there is some sort of standstill regarding combo guard Kyt Jimenez's contract status.

As revealed to the media, Jimenez, the Beermen's ninth-round pick in the recent PBA Draft, was not activated for the season-opening Commissioner's Cup as they apparently need to fix things up with the MPBL's GenSan Warriors.

Spin.PH reported on Sunday that Jimenez has yet to secure a release from GenSan that would have paved the way for him to make the most out of the two-year deal he signed with SMB.

Jimenez's contract with the Warriors runs until the end of the calendar year.

Jimenez, Philippine basketball's new quadruple-double king, actually showed up later Tuesday for them during their MPBL Playoffs first-round series Game 2 against the Muntinlupa Cagers at the Bacoor City STRIKE Gymnasium.

However, he was not activated for the potential series-clinching game, and GenSan failed to complete a fourth-quarter comeback and bowed to Muntinlupa in a supposed home game but had to play on neutral grounds due to the unavailability of the Lagao Gymnasium in General Santos, forcing a rubber match in their best-of-three affair next Tuesday.

Jimenez declined an interview after the game, but he said that his camp will release a statement by Wednesday at the soonest to address his contract situation.
