BACOOR--Bacoor City wasted no time in dominating Batangas City en route to an 89-68 win in Game 1 of the MPBL South Division Finals on Monday night at the Bacoor City STRIKE Gymnasium.
The Strikers waxed hot in the first quarter and dropped 27 points on the Embassy Chill before holding them to just 11 points in the second to build a 51-29 halftime lead.
Bacoor City would stretch the lead to as high as 27 before settling for the 21-point win.
James Kwekuteye sizzled for 19 points in the first half before finishing with 25 points, three rebounds, and four steals to lead the Strikers, who can finish off the best-of-three series on Friday night at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum.
Jhan Nermal added 14 points, seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, and two blocks, while Mark Yee chipped in 10 points, going 5-for-5 from inside the arc, 10 rebounds, and four assists.
Jeckster Apinan put up 15 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block for the Embassy Chill.
