QUEZON CITY—Another player with a career-high, a rookie proving well why he won the Rookie of the Year award in another league, yet another heartbreaker for Rain Or Shine.

The Elasto Painters ended up on the wrong end of another tight game, this time conceding a 115-110 win to the San Miguel Beermen in their PBA Commissioner's Cup game on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

It took a vintage performance from Marcio Lassiter to spoil impressive games from Gian Mamuyac and debuting Adrian Nocum as SMB won for the third straight game.

Lassiter hit the go-ahead three with 43.5 seconds left to put the Beermen up, 111-108.

Although Lassiter missed the bonus free throw off a Jhonard Clarito foul, Clarito committed another blunder in the next play as he could not find Tree Treadwell and gave a bad pass instead with 26.2 seconds to go.

Chris Ross then hit three straight free throws to give SMB a 114-108 lead before Treadwell, who was struggling in his PBA debut as ROS's replacement import, scored on a quick layup to cut the lead to four.

Ivan Aska then made a split from the foul line for the final tally.

Aska finished with 28 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks, while Lassiter added 23 points on 6-of-9 three-point shooting and 8-of-13 overall, two rebounds, three assists, and one steal for the Beermen, who moved up to 3-1.

Mamuyac made 33 points, three rebounds, four assists, and two steals for the Elasto Painters, who are now at the bottom of the standings at 0-5.

Nocum, who was formally named the MPBL Rookie of the Year the night prior, had 12 points, three rebounds, and one assist.

Treadwell only finished with eight points but had 15 rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and one steal.
