College-Manila, Immaculada Concepcion College, and Treston International
College dispatched their respective rivals to share the slice of the lead in
the resumption of basketball action of the Inter-Scholastic Athletic
Association (ISAA) Season 15 at the LCCM gym in Mendiola Monday.
The four-peat-seeking Blue Royals stepped on the gas early on
as it vented its ire on the ALIAC Blazing Phoenix, 75-41, for a 4-1 win-loss
card.
Chirstian Alonzo was again the high-point man for LCCM with an
across-the-board outing of 19 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three
steals, while John Kelly Aloro finished with 12 points anchored on four
triples.
The boys of coach Kenyon Chee shot 30-of-70 (43 percent)
from the field while limiting ALIAC to only 27% (12-of-45) clip from the floor.
They also lorded it over the rebounding department, 41-25.
Gabby Faisan was the only double-digit scorer for ALIAC with
11 points. The loss was the season hosts’ third in four games.
The Blue Hawks dominated in the second half as it repulsed
the University of Asia and the Pacific, 95-52, to notch its fourth successive victory.
AJ Flores once again spearheaded the attack with 19 points
and four assists as the Caloocan-based outfit limited their opponents to just
16 points in the final two quarters.
Brent Paccarangan added 14 markers, with John Albert Omaga
and John Red Seniedo each cashing 11 for ICC.
Val Mercado and Ryan Dayle Celis chipped in 18 and 10 points,
respectively, as the Dragons have yet to taste victory in five matches.
Earlier in the day, the Golden Lions bucked a tentative
start with a furious second-quarter rally and held on from there to storm past
the Philippine Women’s University, 57-51, and also tote a 4-1 record. Rasheen
Jose contributed 13 points, while Racid Sarmiento and Eugene Tan had 10 apiece.
John Matthew Espiritu issued 17 points for the Patriots, now
at 1-4.
In juniors division play, defending champs LCCM inflicted
Treston its fourth straight setback with a 105-60 demolition to stay unbeaten
at 4-0. Wynzkyllo Sarangay came two rebounds shy of a double-double with a game-best
21 markers and eight boards, even as Marcus Saad produced 18 with four dimes
and three steals for the Baby Blue Royals.
The Golden Cubs were led by Julian Agapito’s 18 points.
UA&P will host five games on Wednesday, with ICCT Colleges
and PATTS opening up the festivities at 9:30 am, followed by the Treston-ALIAC
seniors tussle at 11 am.
LCCM return to action to face Saint Dominic College of Asia
at 12:30 pm, while ICC squares off with PWU at 2 pm. UA&P and WCC-ATC cap
off the day with their own seniors match-up at 3:30 pm.
