YANGON - Cebu Football Club and Shan United FC split the points even as they settles for a 1-1 draw in their fourth match of their group stage campaign inside the Thuwunna Stadium on Thursday.
A late goal from defender Zwe Khant Min in the 81st minute ensures Shan their first points of the competition while denying the Gentle Giants of their second win of the campaign.
It was 0-0 in the first half of the match until the 49th minute when Papu Corsame scored a left-footed shot that keeper Kyaw Zin Phyo was unable to get his hands with..
Both teams figured in a back-and-forth affair with both Kyaw Zin Lwin and Daniel Gadia exchanging chances, while Cebu's Japanese connection of Ren Okuda and Ryo Togashi took their chance as well with Okuda's chance almost making it an early lead.
Htet Phyo Wai caused some troubles for Cebu early on, with a 27th minute chance breaking the defense but was way off, and another with teammate Kyaw Zin Lwin but to no avail as well.
The CFC defense held on up until the dying minutes even as Ye Yint Aung troubled them, but Khant Min made their hopes alive with Ace Villanueva unable to stop the opportunity.
With the win, Cebu still remained in third with 1-1-2 record and four points in the bag, while Shan tallied 0-1-3, with the former winning the head to head with a win and a draw in their hands, the victory coming off their last showdown in Manila last October 26th..
Cebu will head to Cambodia on November 30 to challenge Phnom Penh Crown FC before finishing the group stage with a match against Macarthur FC at home, with the venue still to be determined.
