SAN JUAN, MM--Jose Rizal University made huge progress in the NCAA Final Four race after drubbing Emilio Aguinaldo College, 77-64, in a crucial Tuesday showdown at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.
The Heavy Bombers pulled away in the final 6:18 minutes of the game, going on a 14-1 run to seal the huge win after the Generals tied it for the last time at 63-all.
On his birthday, Marwin Dionisio led JRU, which solidified its hold of the fourth spot in the team standings at 10-6, one game behind San Beda ahead of their Saturday clash, with 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
The other birthday boy, Jonathan Medina, added 11 points, six rebounds, and two assists, while Joshua Guiab also tallied 11 markers with 11 boards and one dime.
Nat Cosejo and JP Maguliano each tallied 12 markers for EAC, which is now on the brink of becoming the fourth team to miss the Final Four after dropping to 8-8.
The Generals must hope that they win their next two games, one against the Perpetual Help Altas also on Saturday and for the Heavy Bombers to drop their remaining two games to force a playoff for the last Final Four seat.
