MANILA—Terrafirma scored its first win in the PBA Commissioner's Cup at the expense of a now-sliding Blackwater side, 97-87, on Wednesday night at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The Dyip broke loose in the second quarter after outscoring the Bossing, 26-18, for a 50-40 halftime lead.
Blackwater kept the game close in the third quarter and cut the lead to five, 69-64, entering the fourth, but Terrafirma reestablished control of the game in the final period.
Juami Tiongson led the Dyip, who bounced back from a tough loss to the NorthPort Batang Pier, with 25 points, three rebounds, eight assists, and two steals.
Javi Gomez De Liano added 17 points, five rebounds, one assist, and one steal, while Timothy De Thaey chipped in 15 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
Mike Ayonayon fired 16 points, one steal, and one block off the bench to lead the Bossing, who have now lost back-to-back games after a season-opening rout of the Converge FiberXers.
Chris Ortiz added 15 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, one block, and one steal, while Rey Suerte went 5-for-5 from the field for 13 points alongside three rebounds, one assist, and one block.
