MANILA--Macarthur secured the top spot in Group F play of the AFC Cup after blanking Cebu, 3-0, in their last group stage match on Thursday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Matthew Millar quickly struck for the A-League leaders with a third-minute strike, but it took 64 more minutes before they doubled the lead courtesy of substitute Jed Drew.
Right at the final play of the match, Ali Auglah scored the insurance goal for Macarthur.
The win moved Macarthur to 15 points on five wins and one loss, and following Phnom Penh's shock 2-1 loss to Shan United in Yangon, the Australian is assured at number one without the need to look at the tiebreakers.
Cebu, due to their Round 1 win and Round 2 draw against Shan, will finish third in the group due to the AFC's tiebreaker rules.
