MANILA--Baguio is now on the cusp for a fourth straight Batang Pinoy overall championship as the city's young athletes went on a massive gold haul on Thursday night.

As of 10 a.m. Friday, Baguio now won 32 gold medals, which basically meant they doubled their output as of early Thursday following the results later in the day.

Leading the way for the kids up north is archer Chass Colas, who won two more golds on Thursday to up his output to four.

As of posting, Colas is playing in three more archery events, and he could end up tied with Karl Yulo as the athlete with the most golds in Batang Pinoy with seven each if he rules all three.

“My goal always when I compete is to beat myself, to become a better person. I don’t expect to win all the time, I just enjoy the games, but I’m still surprised when I win,” said the 14-year-old Colas.

Pasig, which was tied with Baguio in the gold haul as of early Thursday, only got nine more overnight and is now on 25 golds for second place.

Arabella Taguinota led the way for Pasig with six swimming golds.

Once made formal, Baguio is set to receive PHP5 million, while Pasig gets PHP4 million for being in the Top 2

Cebu City and Davao City are neck and neck for third place with 20 golds each, although Cebu City holds the tiebreaker with 15 silvers against Davao City's 14.

The battle for third could boil down to the remaining results on Friday.
