PARANAQUE—Carl Jammes Martin won the vacant WBO global super bantamweight title after knocking out Thai veteran Chaiwat Buatkrathok on Monday night at the Elorde Sports Center.

Martin slowly but surely exploited the tough Buatkrathok with his body punches from Rounds 2-4 before going full throttle in Round 5 to come close to knocking him out that soon.

The end came just 28 seconds into Round 6 when Martin converted on a right uppercut to completely stagger a now gassed-up Buatkrathok.

Buatkrathok tried to survive the eight-count, but he seemingly gave up, prompting the referee to call it a bout.

Martin remains undefeated with his 23rd win in as many bouts, scoring his 18th knockout win, while Buatkrathok fell to 40-9.

It was revealed that Martin, who recently signed with MP Promotions, would have his next bout in the United States as he inches closer to the WBO world title currently held by Naoya Inoue.

Martin, though, could find himself looking forward to an all-Filipino bout instead if Marlon Tapales stuns Inoue on Dec. 26 in Tokyo for the undisputed 122-pound championship.

Meanwhile, Esneth Domingo prevailed despite the grit of Michael Bravo to capture the vacant WBO global flyweight belt.

Domingo still found it tough to finish off Bravo despite two knockdowns early on as the latter still tried to turn things around.

Bravo eventually lost steam after Domingo tagged him with a right straight that knocked him down, and he could not recover from there as referee Danrex Tapdasan ended the bout just 55 seconds into Round 11.

Domingo moved up to 19-2 with 11 knockouts, while Bravo dropped to 14-4.

On the other hand, Mike Plania made quick work of super featherweight prospect Daniel Nicolas in the prelude to the two title bouts.

Plania, who made a de facto debut in the lightweight division after agreeing to fight at a catchweight of 131.5 pounds, needed just 71 seconds to take down Nicolas, who never got to stand up the 10 count after getting tagged to the right rib area with a left hook.

Plania bounced back from his knockout loss to Elijah Pierce back in his natural super bantamweight level and moved up to 29-3 with 16 finishes.

Nicolas, on the other hand, dropped to 7-3.
