STA. ROSA, Laguna—Magnolia bounced back from its first loss in the PBA Commissioner's Cup after drubbing Terrafirma, 104-91, on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
The Hotshots quickly doused cold water on the Dyip as they raced to a 91-60 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Terrafirma tried to pull off a huge comeback in the fourth, coming to within 14, 102-88, with two minutes left, but David Murrell's layup with 1:47 left virtually sealed the deal for Magnolia.
Tyler Bey led the Hotshots, who are once again solely at number one in the team standings at 8-1, with 25 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals.
Ian Sangalang added 18 points on 9-of-12 field goals, nine rebounds, and one assist off the bench.
Juami Tiongson made 17 points, five rebounds, and two assists for the Dyip, who fell to a tie with the NLEX Road Warriors for ninth place at 2-6, one game behind the Rain Or Shine Elasto Painters for the eighth spot.
Thomas De Thaey and Javi Gomez De Liano each added 11 markers with De Thaey grabbing 13 boards.
