PASIG—NorthPort began December on a high note as the team took down TNT in overtime, 128-123, in their PBA Commissioner's Cup game at the PhilSports Arena.
The Batang Pier began the extension with a dominating 7-0 run to open a 120-113 lead with 3:45 left.
The Tropang Giga kept in step with the Batang Pier midway through the overtime period and cut the lead down to two, 125-123, with 37 seconds left.
Fran Yu somehow kept the door open for TNT as he split his free throws with 18 seconds to play, but Arvin Tolentino secured the offensive rebound and made two free throws of his own to put the game away for NorthPort.
Tolentino finished with 27 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block off the bench for the Batang Pier, who snapped a two-game slide to move up to 3-2.
Venky Jois added 21 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, one block, and four steals.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson led the Tropang Giga, who dropped to 2-3 with their second straight loss, with 35 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists, three steals, and two blocks.
Calvin Oftana and Glenn Khobuntin each added 22 points, while Jayson Castro had 20 off the bench.
