BACOOR—Rain Or Shine finally broke through the win column in the PBA Commissioner's Cup standings after pipping Blackwater, 115-110, on Saturday night at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
Despite letting the Bossing chip away their huge lead late in the game, the Elasto Painters hung on this time and finally got that elusive victory.
ROS was holding to a 103-90 lead with 3:57 left in the game until Chris Ortiz's back-to-back threes sparked Blackwater's last charge.
The Bossing eventually came to within three, 110-107, with 44 seconds left, but clutch free throws from Andrei Caracut and Jhonard Clarito helped put the game away for the Elasto Painters.
Tree Treadwell, Santi Santillan, and Adrian Nocum each scored 14 points with Treadwell also tallying 18 rebounds for ROS, which tied its victim at 1-5 and left Converge, which lost to Phoenix in the first game, as the only winless team left in the conference.
Ortiz's 46-point blast anchored on 16-of-28 shooting along with nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals still came up short as Blackwater lost for the fifth straight time after its season-opening win.
