PBA: Venky Jois puts up monster game as NorthPort keeps Converge winless despite new import

QUEZON CITY—Venky Jois outplayed new Converge import Jamil Wilson to lead NorthPort to a 111-95 win in their PBA Commissioner's Cup game on Wednesday night at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

Jois finished with a monstrous performance of 39 points, 21 rebounds, six assists, and four blocks alongside one steal to lead the Batang Pier, who broke away from the slumping FiberXers by outscoring them, 31-21, in the second quarter, to take a 58-48 halftime lead after a 27-all deadlock after one quarter.

NorthPort stayed in the form in the second half and even led by 18 points with 32 seconds left in the fourth quarter before Wilson scored two free throws in the end for the final margin.

Arvin Tolentino made 18 points, three rebounds, two assists, and one steal to backstop Jois for the Batang Pier, who moved up to 4-2.

Cade Flores also had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds with one assist and four steals.

Wilson finished with 30 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, and one steal for the FiberXers, who slipped to 0-6.

JL Delos Santos had a quiet four points, two rebounds, four assists, and one steal in his PBA debut.
