PASAY--While NorthPort was playing a PBA Commissioner's Cup game at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Sunday, its front office was working on a trade with NLEX.
The Road Warriors announced right after the Batang Pier's game against the Meralco Bolts that a five-player trade has been agreed upon which involves Robert Bolick and Don Trollano.
Bolick, who has not played a single game so far this PBA season, is heading to NLEX along with Kent Salado for Trollano, Ben Adamos, and Kris Rosales.
Salado still got to play for NorthPort against Meralco on Sunday, going scoreless in four and a half minutes of action.
The Road Warriors also sent the Batang Pier their second-round pick in the 2024 PBA Draft.
NLEX governor Ronald Dulatre hinted that they might activate Bolick as soon as possible as they look for someone to take over Kevin Alas' role while recovering from his third ACL injury.
"In light of Kevin Alas's unfortunate injury, we recognize the pressing need to fill the void left by his scoring and leadership. Robert Bolick is a remarkable player, and we believe his skills and experience will significantly contribute to the NLEX Road Warriors. We are excited about the prospect of having him on our roster and look forward to the positive impact he can make for the team," Dulatre said.
Bolick played for one game in the B.League second division for the Fukushima Firebonds, but he was released by the team as requested so that he could tend to his pregnant wife.
Bolick was in attendance for Game 2 of the NCAA men's basketball finals at the SM Mall of Asia Arena won by his alma mater San Beda.
Dulatre thanked Trollano, Adamos, and Rosales for their "crucial role in our team's journey."
The trade is now pending approval from the PBA trade committee.
