Kevin Quiambao catches fire from deep as Strong Group now 2-0 in Dubai tourney

MANILA—Kevin Quiambao waxed hot from long range to lead Strong Group Athletics to an 89-67 rout of Al-Wahda Damascus in the Dubai International Basketball Championship at the Al-Nasr Sports Club on Saturday night.

Quiambao went 6-for-6 on three-pointers to pace Strong Group's offense which gradually broke loose from Al-Wahda.

The reigning UAAP MVP finished with 24 points alongside five rebounds, two assists, and one block for Strong Group, which is now 2-0 in the tournament.

Fellow La Salle teammate Ef Escandor added 18 points, also sizzling from 22 feet out with a 5-for-6 clip, two rebounds, and one steal.

Andray Blatche bounced back from his scoreless outing against the United Arab Emirates as he chipped in 12 points on 2-of-3 three-point shooting with three rebounds, two assists, and three assists.

Jordan Heading, arguably Strong Group's best shooter, also went 2-for-3 on triples and also collected 12 points with one rebound and one assist.

Overall, Strong Group shot 17-of-27 from beyond the arc.

Myron Jordan made 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, five rebounds, one assist, and five steals for Al-Wahda, which was making its debut in the event.
