PSL: San Juan shuts down 1Munti in 2nd half to score win

BINAN--San Juan banked on its defense in the second half to rip 1Munti, 71-59, in their PSL battle on Thursday night at the Alonte Sports Arena.

San Juan broke loose in the third quarter after outscoring 1Munti, 22-6, to break a 42-all halftime deadlock and open a 64-48 lead entering the fourth.

1Munti slowed San Juan down in the fourth frame, but San Juan also held down 1Munti to seal the blowout.

Marvin Taywan led San Juan, which moved up to 8-1, with 14 points on a perfect 5-for-5 field goal shooting including 3-of-3 on threes, two rebounds, six assists, and one steal.

AC Soberano added 13 points on three triples, two rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Puroy Cantimbuhan and Paolo Quiminales each made 13 points for 1Munti, which fell to a tie with MisOr, which drubbed Bicol in the first game, at 6-4.
