MANILA--Baser Amer has signed up with NLEX for the PBA Philippine Cup.

The team officially announced the midseason acquisition of the six-foot point guard on Tuesday, although the contract signing took place the night before.

The Road Warriors quickly picked up Amer from the waiver wire after he and the Blackwater Bossing agreed on a release that would make him an unrestricted free agent.

It was some sort of a homecoming for Amer as he had already played for NLEX when it was still in the PBA D-League, winning three championships.

What makes his return special is that he joins a long list of San Beda alumni now wearing NLEX blue after having stellar collegiate careers wearing the red-and-white.

"Masaya ako na makasama sila Coach Frankie [Lim] at mga iba pang Bedista dito sa NLEX. Gagawin ko ang best ko para makuha namin yung championship," Amer said.

Lim was present in the contract signing that took place during the Road Warriors' training camp at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba City along with NLEX Corporation president Jose Luigi Bautista, team governor Ronald Dulatre, and team manager Larry Fonacier.

Amer joining the team is very timely as it is looking to shore up its guard rotation following Kevin Alas' ACL injury and Hesed Gabo's return to the PSL and MPBL's Nueva Ecija franchise.

The Road Warriors were to conclude their training camp on Tuesday.
