MANILA--Converge has parted ways with Mac Tallo after just one conference after he saw action in an unsanctioned basketball event in Cebu City last month.
The FiberXers announced on Wednesday that they have waived Tallo, one of their top contributors in the times he played in the PBA Commissioner's Cup, by terminating his two-year contract.
The team did not divulge further details about the waiver, but they said, "Mac Tallo had committed several infractions of his Uniform Players' Contract. This includes playing in unsanctioned games without seeking clearance from Converge management and the Philippine Basketball Association."
Tallo played for five games this conference, averaging 7.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per outing.
Due to a supposed injury, he was sent to the free agency list, but because no other team recruited him, Converge retained his rights not until he was caught playing for a Marawi-based team in the Sinulog Cup.
It was also reported that the PBA slapped Tallo with a PHP100,000 fine for the ligang labas appearance where his team won the championship and he was named the tournament MVP.
Now a free agent, the 30-year-old Tallo can sign up with any team, although another option is to join a regional league if no PBA team picks him up.
