Gilas now 2-0 in FIBA ACQ after romping Chinese Taipei

PASIG—Gilas Pilipinas swept the first window of the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers after waylaying Chinese Taipei, 106-53, on Sunday night at the sold-out PhilSports Arena.

Gilas pulled away in the final 4:40 of the first quarter after finishing the period on a 17-4 run to break a 9-all deadlock and turn the match into a one-sided affair.

Justin Brownlee led Gilas, now 2-0 on the road to Jeddah, with 26 points on 11-for-18 shooting, 13 rebounds, four assists, one steal, and two blocks.

Kai Sotto added 18 points on 6-of-10 field goals and 6-of-7 free throws, 10 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks.

Liu Cheng had 13 points, two rebounds, and for Chinese Taipei, which dropped to 0-2.
