QUEZON CITY—The PBA will continue to air its games on the station formerly known as CNN Philippines even if a new managing team is coming its way to the RPN-owned frequency.
Cignal head for channel management and programming Rissa Guillas confirmed on Thursday that there will still be live PBA broadcast on Channel 9, which is now known as RPTV, and this time, it's for the entire game week.
Wednesday and Friday games will also be shown on RPTV aside from the weekend games beginning with the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals, which will kick off this Friday night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
Cignal previously forged an agreement with CNN Philippines to have the Saturday and Sunday games televised on its network last month.
However, concerns regarding the programming agreement were raised when CNN Philippines closed operations this week.
With the latest development, the PBA will still have a national television broadcast on Channel 9, and it's essentially expanded to full-blown coverage just like during the late 2000s and early 2010s.
The games will still be shown nationally on A2Z, although in a slightly delayed telecast this time, with a live simulcast on cable network PBA Rush and live stream via Pilipinas Live.
