PBA govs project SMB-Magnolia finals to go full-length

QUEZON CITY—Team governors from sister teams San Miguel and Magnolia believe that the championship series between both teams for PBA Commissioner's Cup supremacy could be too close to call and that it could be fine with them if it goes a Game 7.

During Thursday's pre-finals press conference at the Eastwood Richmonde Hotel, governors Rene Pardo and Robert Non expressed their projection that the best-of-seven series could go the full length.

Pardo first vowed that his Hotshots would get the better of the Beermen if the series indeed reaches the full seven games.

"We will win this in seven games, 4-3," the governor of the Purefoods franchise.

Non then replied, "This is a good series. If umabot ng Game 7, OK lang na tumagal doon basta kami ang champion."

For Magnolia head coach Chito Victolero, though, seeing the series go down the wire would sound good news to the fans.

"Hopefully, it goes down to a Game 7 so the Magnolia and San Miguel fans will enjoy the series," Victolero said.

The best-of-seven affair begins on Friday night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, the same arena for Game 2 two evenings later.

The series will then shift to the Smart Araneta Coliseum here for Games 3 and 4 next week.

If necessary, Game 5 will also be at "The Big Dome" and so is Game 6, which will fall on Valentine's night.

If the series indeed goes a Game 7, it will be on Feb. 16 back at the MOA Arena.
