MANILA—Things got heated up right after Game 2 of the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals when Calvin Abueva and Mo Tautuaa's wife Aida exchanged choice words just when everyone was exiting the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay after San Miguel's 109-85 win against Magnolia to go 2-0 up in the series.

Asked about what happened, Abueva said that Aida Tautuaa suddenly lashed out at him.

"Dumaan siya dito. Hinihintay ko yung anak ko. And then: 'What the f*** are you smiling to?' Tinanong nya ako. Nag-smile ba ako sa'yo?" Abueva said.

"Dumaan ako nang maayos. Dadaan ka sa akin. Sino ka?"

Moments later, however, Abueva and his wife Sam returned inside the arena to confront the Tautuaas, and Calvin Abueva suddenly challenged Mo Tautuaa to a fistfight.

"Hey, Mo! Pagsabihan mo yung asawa mo ah. F*** you! Gusto mo sapakan tayo?" Abueva told his fellow former Gilas Pilipinas' Asian Games pool member.

Cooler heads, which included Beermen coaching consultant Leo Austria, had to restrain Abueva's family and help them make their way out peacefully.

The Tautuaas eventually made their exits too but with some security personnel escorting them.

Aida Tautuaa then went to X to air her side of the confrontation, saying, "To set the record straight— Calvin did not physically attack me.  I had to walk past him to go to the restroom. He smirked at me, nodded his head up & down & said, 'Yeah' laughing. I said, 'WTF is wrong with you' and kept walking. He walked after me and literally got in my face."

She then posted a longer version of her story on Instagram, adding, "He is not mentally stable. When the PBA allowed him to play again, I was actually rooting for him and said that everyone deserves second chances. He clearly did not change. Not to mention, his locker room was on the opposite side of the arena. There was absolutely no reason why he came to the SMB dugout and was standing there."

Tautuaa was referring to Abueva's reinstatement from a 16-month ban during the 2020 season bubble.

Game 3 is scheduled on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, and with only one common hallway for the players and coaches to use to go in and out of their dugouts, expect tighter security in the arena.
