SMB now 2-0 up in PBA Comms' Cup Finals with domination vs Magnolia

MANILA—San Miguel is now halfway into clinching the PBA Commissioner's Cup championship after whipping Magnolia, 109-85, in Game 2 of the Finals on Sunday night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

The Beermen were solid on both ends of the floor almost all game long, dropping 31 points on the Hotshots in the first quarter before holding them to a combined 33 in the next two quarters.

SMB led by as much as 28 points before taking the 24-point win.

Bennie Boatwright put up 34 points on 13-of-25 shooting including 7-of-16 on threes, 10 rebounds, five assists, and one steal to lead the Beermen, who are now 2-0 up in the best-of-seven series.

CJ Perez added 20 points, six rebounds, four assists, five steals, and one block, while June Mar Fajardo chipped in 19 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and one steal.

Tyler Bey led the Hotshots with 22 points, 16 rebounds, one assist, and one steal but committed five turnovers.

SMB can take a commanding 3-0 lead in the series in Game 3 as the finals shift places to the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday night.
