MPBL: Bataan goes on late comeback to stun Bulacan

PARANAQUE--Bataan scored the game's last six points to stun Bulacan, 92-90, on Tuesday in the MPBL Sixth Season at the Olivarez College Gym.

Trailing, 86-90, the Bataan Risers found saviors in Mitchelle Maynes, Yves Sazon, and Jeff Santos to snatch their third win against two losses in the elimination round of the country's top regional league.

Maaynes split his two charities, Sazon banged in a triple, while Santos stole off a bad pass to deliver the clincher.

Bulacan's Paolo Hubalde unleashed a desperation heave from midcourt that hit the board as the final buzzer sounded.

Maynes wound up with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals and was chosen as the game's best player. He was supported by Robbi Darang with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1 steal, and Santos and Octobre with 11 points each.

Sazon contributed 9 points, including that pivotal 3.

Bulacan, which led by as many as 45-29, slid to 1-4 despite the 29-point, 11-assist, 5-rebound, 2-steal explosion of Hubalde.

The Kuyas also got 21 points from Nino Ibanez, 19 from Jason Celis, and 9 points plus 12 rebounds from Jason Baltazar.
