Mark Tallo weaves magic anew for the Abra Weavers. MPBL |
SAN JUAN, MM--Mark Tallo wove magic for Abra again on Thursday as the Weavers repulsed the Marikina Shoemasters, 97-85, and gained the solo lead in the MPBL Sixth Season at the FilOil Ecooil Centre.
Showing why he's the country's top 3x3 player, Tallo poured 11 points in the fourth quarter to become the season's first back-to-back best player of the game and lead Abra to its second straight win in the 30-team regional league.
Tallo, who also shone in Abra's 83-75 victory over fellow expansion team Pangasinan in the MPBL inaugurals on April 6, wound up with 15 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Prince Caperal and JC Recto supported Tallo with 11 points each, followed by Rodel Fabro with 9.
NCAA Season 99 MVP Clint Escamis contributed 7 points, 9 assists, 4 rebounds, and 1 steal for the Weavers of Coach Jonathan Banal.
Although Marikina absorbed its second straight defeat, the Shoemasters showed they could not be taken for granted as they kept the Weavers at bay, 80-83, before Tallo completed a 3-point play and the 6-foot-7 Caperal bunched 4 points to seal the outcome, 90-80, entering the homestretch.
Marikina got 19 points from Eric Pili, 18 from Eloie Tan amd 13 from RR Casajeros.
