MAKATI - ONIC Philippines's red-hot momentum burns for the seventh straight time as they sweep fellow title contenders ECHO to end their Week 4 campaign Sunday.
It was a feel-good moment for the Sonics who took one back from the Orcas, the latter giving the former their only loss so far this season.
Frince "Super Frince" Martinez's Luo Yi took the spotlight in the first game as they delivered a 23-minute match in their favor, with the midlaner dealing five kills and eight assists.
ECHO found themselves toe-to-toe with ONIC Philippines for the first 15 minutes, even getting a sizeable lead for the third lord dance of the game.
With Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno and Jaypee "Jaypee" dela Cruz falling down the count in the 18th minute, King "K1NGKONG" Perez grabbed the lord into their favor, completely flipping the script in ONIC's favor, and the team never looked back to seal the deal five minutes later after a five-man wipeout.
No lords were needed in the second game as both team exchange fire with fire in 13 minutes, but ONIC grabbed the win with Duane "Kelra" Pillas's Roger getting the MVP nod with a 4/1/4 KDA.
However, ONIC's superior early to mid-game spike was enough to close the series as two turtles were enough cushion to finish the Orcas, including a four-man takedown with only Sanford "Sanford" Vinuya to defend against all five ONIC members.
With the win, ONIC sits at the top of the regular season table with a 7-1 win-loss record, while ECHO keeps themselves at third but dropped to 5-3 in standings.
The Orcas will meet the Raiders of RSG Philippines, while the Orcas will visit the Barangay Omega, all on Friday to open the league's fifth week.
