MAKATI—Scottie Thompson's return to action proved to be timely for Ginebra, but Christian Standhardinger led the way for the team in its 105-86 rout of Blackwater in their PBA Philippine Cup game on Friday night at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
Standhardinger put up 33 points for the Gin Kings, who established their dominance over the Bossing after taking a 29-21 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Ginebra would outscore Blackwater, 30-19, in the second quarter to pull away for good even as the former opened a 30-point lead late in the third quarter before settling for the 19-point win.
Standhardinger went 12-of-17 from the field and 9-of-11 from the foul line for all his points even as he also tallied six rebounds, five assists, and one block for the Gin Kings, who broke a tie with the Bossing and moved up to 4-3.
Maverick Ahanmisi and Ralph Cu each added 14 points.
Thompson still had a decent all-around game despite only making four points in his conference debut as he too tallied seven rebounds, eight assists, and two steals.
James Kwekuteye fired 20 points with three rebounds and three assists, while Justin Chua tallied 17 markers, 10 boards, and one dime both coming off the bench for Blackwater, which dropped to 3-4.
