PBA: Terrafirma shocks Ginebra to go back to 4th place

MANILA—Terrafirma pulled off a major upset in the PBA Philippine Cup after stunning Ginebra, 91-85, on Sunday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The Dyip blasted off in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Gin Kings, 17-8, in the first six minutes to go up, 81-69.

Japeth Aguilar tried to will Ginebra back by scoring six straight points to cut the lead down to six, 81-75, with four and a half minutes remaining.

However, Terrafirma answered with an 8-1 run, the lone Ginebra point off an Aguilar free throw, to up their lead back to 13, 89-76, with 2:09 remaining.

The Gin Kings finished the game strong on a 9-2 run to cut the lead to a more respectable one.

Juami Tiongson led Terrafirma, which is back in solo fourth place at 4-3, with 25 points, four rebounds, and four assists.

Javi Gomez De Liano added 22 points, going 6-for-6 from inside the arc, six rebounds, and three blocks as Terrafirma beat Ginebra for just the second time ever and the first since the 2021 Philippine Cup bubble in Bacolor, Pampanga.

Stephen Holt and Kemark Carino each chipped in 12 markers with Holt also grabbing 11 caroms.

Christian Standhardinger led Ginebra with 21 points and seven rebounds, but he sat out the entire fourth quarter as Ginebra fell to 3-3.
