MANILA - Young Tuloy FC came untucked after Cebu FC put in seven goals to get their second win in the 2024 Philippines Football League Saturday inside the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
It was a resounding win for the Gentle Giants, who continued their momentum after a 4-0 beatdown of Loyola back in Cebu last April 6.
Turkish mainstay Goktug Demiroglu opened the floodgates for Cebu, scoring from a header off a corner kick from Guytho Mijland early in the 10th minute.
Another set piece puts Cebu ahead, with Mijland's corner kick connecting to striker Abou Sy, who comfortably puts the ball past Michael Antilo Jr.'s guard.
Coach Takemoto Suzuki's boys grabbed one back as Cyrelle Saut finds Bryan Villanueva, who got the ball to header past Jun Badelic to end the first half 2-1 in favor of Cebu.
Mijland and Sy's connection continued to work as the two beat Tuloy's transition defense in the 53rd minute, with the latter beating the offside flag and getting the third goal.
Zamoranho Ho-a-Tham found himself in the scorecard as he converted a rebound off shots from both Sy and Jeremiah Borlongan, getting the goal in the 71st minute and giving Cebu a commanding 4-1 lead.
Borlongan crosses the ball onto Devrim Yanik in the 83rd minute, who beats Villanueva in one-on-one and puts the ball near the post, giving Cebu their fifth goal of the game.
Goals from Borlongan and Rintaro Hama put the icing on the cake for the Gentle Giants with the two players scoring in additional time.
Cebu will defend their home in Talisay as they will face Maharlika Taguig, while Tuloy will try to rebuild their momentum against a struggling Philippine Air Force side.
