BINAN--The Welcoat Dragons look to open a potential conference-changing winning streak on Wednesday night as the team clashes with the Converge FiberXers in the PBA Philippine Cup.

Yes, you read it right.

The Rain Or Shine franchise will be renaming itself to its original name at least for Wednesday night even as the team brought back its 2006-2007 season jerseys ahead of its 7:30 p.m. clash with Converge.

In an Instagram and Facebook reel, the Elasto Painters said that the Welcoat jerseys will be their "alternate jerseys" for this conference, which means they will use the said kits again in a few more games.

Aside from the nostalgia, the E-Painters go back to being the Dragons as part of their way to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.

The club was founded in 1996 as Welcoat in the defunct PBL, but during its latter years, the team used the Rain Or Shine name.

When the team made the jump to the PBA after buying the Shell franchise ahead of the 2006-2007 season, it reverted to the Welcoat name with the "Dragons" as its moniker.

However, they went back to the ROS identity by the 2008-2009 season, the season they drafted Gabe Norwood first overall, and stuck with the said name until today.

The Elasto Painters make their return from the All-Star break looking to win back-to-back games since starting the conference 0-4 even as they look to make yet another tough climb to a playoff spot just like in the Commissioner's Cup where they won six straight games after a 0-5 to steal a quarterfinal spot.

On the other hand, the FiberXers hope that they can finally find their rhythm and snap their 0-5 start.
