BINAN--Greg Slaughter's arrival to the MPBL paid dividends for Manila as the capital city team stunned Biñan, 79-63, in their Friday night clash at the Alonte Sports Arena.
With the seven-footer inserted into the game for the first time in the regional league as a starter, the Stars got more inside help to back up Rabeh Al-Hussaini and Carl Cruz.
However, the perimeter game mattered more for the team in the end as Cruz, also known as a stretch-4, Jan Jamon, and Ef Escandor connived for a game-turning 18-3 run midway in the fourth quarter for them to pull away from the Tatak Gel.
Cruz finished with 21 points, five rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block for Manila, which moved up to 6-4.
Jamon added 14 points and three rebounds off the bench, while Slaughter put up 12 points, eight rebounds, and four assists for a solid MPBL debut.
Jimboy Estrada made 15 points, five rebounds, one assist, and one steal for Biñan, which lost for the first time this season after a 6-0 start, trimming the number of undefeated teams left to three.
