MANILA--Meralco booked the second seat in the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals after blowing out NLEX, 100-81, to sweep their best-of-three quarterfinal series on Sunday night at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
The Bolts pulled away in what was initially thought to be another tight battle by outscoring the Road Warriors, 24-11, in the fourth quarter.
Chris Banchero led Meralco, which will rekindle its rivalry with Ginebra in the best-of-seven semifinals beginning Friday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, with 23 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
Cliff Hodge and Allein Maliksi added 14 markers each.
Despite still leading NLEX in scoring, Robert Bolick, who exploded for 48 points in Game 1, was held to only 18 in Game 2 with three rebounds, four assists, and one steal.
