BATANGAS CITY--Davao Occidental hit its stride in the fourth quarter and battered Muntinlupa, 82-66, on Wednesday in the MPBL Sixth Season at the Batangas City Coliseum.

Barely ahead, 58-56, after three quarters, the Davao Occidental Tigers clustered 16 points to pull away en route to their third win in four starts in the round-robin elimination phase of the 29-team tournament.

Jun Manzo poured all of his six points while Biboy Enguio added five points, James Martinez drilled in a triple and Mark Sarangay chipped in two charities in that decisive spurt.

Martinez led the Tigers, the 2021 national champions, with 18 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists, but it was Kenneth Ighalo who was chosen best player with 16 points and 4 rebounds.

Enguio wound up with 11 points and 8 rebounds, while Bambam Gamalinda added 9 points and 5 rebounds for the Tigers of Coach Manu Inigo.

Muntinlupa slumped to a 0-5 card as no Cager was able to score in double figures.

Warlo James Batac, Jasper Longalong, and Gabriel Capacio posted 9 points each for the Cagers.
