MAKATI—Rain Or Shine returned from a long break with a bang, securing an outright quarterfinal berth in the PBA Philippine Cup with a 120-104 rout against NLEX on Friday night at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

Playing for the first time in 13 nights, the Elasto Painters were hot offensively against the Road Warriors, dropping 97 points on them at the end of the third quarter while opening a lead as high as 26 points.

Beau Belga continued his string of vintage performances as of late as he led six ROS players in double figures with 18 points, two rebounds, four assists, and one block.

Santi Santillan added 17 points on 7-for-9 field goals, nine rebounds, five assists, one block, and one steal as his team finished its elimination round campaign at 6-5.

The Elasto Painters will now have to wait for the results of the remaining games to see if they will end up inside the Top 6, which would mean they will play a best-of-three quarterfinal series.

Robert Bolick exploded for 38 points on 15-for-22 shooting with four rebounds, five assists, and two steals, but it was not enough for NLEX to avoid dropping to 5-5 as they botched their chances of stealing the Top 2 quarterfinal bonus away from Ginebra.

The outcome means the Gin Kings will seal the second seed and the other once-to-advance advantage in the quarterfinals.
