PAVIA - Defending champions Kaya FC-Iloilo puts on a six-goal master class as they dismantle Philippine Army FC at Campo Paulino Alcantara on Saturday to continue their 2024 Philippines Football League campaign.

Robert Lopez Mendy opened the goal fest for the Lions as he slotted a goal past John Kent Delariarte in the 24th minute, with attacking partner Javier Gayoso scoring the second one five minutes later.

Mar Diano gave Kaya the third goal after their one-two with Marwin Angeles connected and sent Delariarte diving to no avail in the 40th minute.

Japanese midfielder Shuto Komaki opened the scoring in the second half with a 60th-minute screamer that went past the entire Army defense and sent the keeper flying.

Neil Dorimon will have a game to forget as he scored an own goal in the 71st minute off from a pass from Mar Diano which the former deflected the wrong way, giving Kaya a commanding 5-0 lead.

A Martini Rey pass from half the pitch found a sprinting Gayoso, forcing Delariarte to play sweeper-keeper but to no avail as Gayoso puts it on the other side of the goal to get his brace and Kaya's sixth to close the scoring.

With the win, Kaya sits at 31 points and has yet to taste defeat in 11 matches, two points ahead of Stallion Laguna with a game in hand, while Philippine Army conceded their second straight loss in a row and stayed at 12th with seven points.

The Army will continue their away days' tour next week in Talisay City against Dynamic Herb Cebu, while Kaya will have a marquee matchup in Manila against Stallion Laguna.
