Pangasinan pulls away late to pip slumping Bacolod

BINAN--Pangasinan flaunted its new jersey, and it paid dividends on Monday night by ripping Bacolod, 84-70, in their MPBL game at the Alonte Sports Arena.

Rocking new kits inspired by the Phoenix Suns jerseys, the Heatwaves needed a late breakaway to pummel the City of Smiles.

Pangasinan was on pace for a blowout win after racing to a 23-11 lead after the first quarter, but Bacolod struck back in the second with a 26-14 outburst to tie the count at 37 apiece at halftime.

The game remained tight in the third quarter, but Pangasinan exploded for 31 points in the fourth quarter to finally pull away from Bacolod.

Michael Mabulac tallied 18 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists for Pangasinan, which moved up to 5-8, while Hesed Gabo added 12 points, one rebound, three assists, and four steals.

Louie Vigil hit 24 points with 11 rebounds, four assists, and one steal for Bacolod, which slipped to 1-13.
