MANILA--As expected, reigning MPL Philippines champion Liquid Echo and M5 World Champion Falcons AP Bren dominated their MLBB Mid-Season Cup group stage assignments to come out on top of their respective groups.

The two Filipino clubs posted similar 6-0 game sweeps during the past week to enter the knockout stages as the top seeds for Groups C and D, respectively.

Liquid Echo first swept Twisted Minds in their two-game tie last Wednesday before taking down Team Spirit and HomeBois back-to-back on Friday.

Falcons AP Bren also tripped Xianyou this past Wednesday while returning to action on Sunday with back-to-back wins against Cloud9 and Falcon Esports.

However, hopes for an all-Filipino MSC grand finals were quashed during the quarterfinal draw on Sunday night as both Liquid Echo and Falcons AP Bren were drawn into the same half of the playoff brackets.

This means Liquid Echo and Falcons AP Bren could find themselves having their MPL Philippines grand finals rematch in the MSC semifinals assuming they breeze past the quarterfinals.

Liquid Echo will face Falcon in the first best-of-five quarterfinals on Wednesday, while Falcons AP Bren will collide with See You Soon in another quarterfinal tie on Thursday.

HomeBois and Selangor headline the other half of the playoff brackets, making an MPL Malaysia grand finals rematch another MSC semifinal possibility.

Selangor will take on Fire Flux on Wednesday night, while HomeBois, which entered the main tournament by ruling the wildcard phase, will battle NIP Flash in the last quarterfinal tie on Thursday night.

A new MSC champion will be crowned as the Kairi Rayosdelsol-led Fnatic Onic Indonesia was eliminated after failing to survive Group B, the presumed "group of death" which was won by Selangor.
