BINAN--Parañaque stayed in step in a tight race for the MPBL South Division top seed after beating lowly Bicolandia, 110-90, in their Wednesday night clash at the Alonte Sports Arena.
The Patriots quickly dominated the Oragons, opening a 30-15 lead to end the first quarter.
Bicol waxed hot in the third quarter and scored 34 points on Paranaque, but the latter responded with another 30-point quarter, this time in the fourth, to seal the blowout.
Pao Castro led the Patriots, who momentarily moved up to sixth place at 10-6, with 23 points, two rebounds, and two steals.
Kristan Hernandez added 20 points, four rebounds, three assists, and one block, while Ford Ruaya put up 18 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
Shaq Alanes fired 27 points along with three rebounds, five assists, and one steal for the Oragons, who dropped to 2-14.
Chris Javier tallied 21 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocks, while Edcel Rojas had 18 points, 17 rebounds, and two assists and Lord Casajeros had 11 markers, 15 boards, seven dimes, and three steals.
In the second game, Quezon City sizzled just in time to beat Sarangani, 70-61.
Held to just six points in the first quarter, QC slowly got its offensive form going as the game continued and pulled away from Sarangani after a 25-12 third quarter.
Paul Garcia and Rhin Yambing each had 15 points for QC, which tied Valenzuela for ninth place in the North Division at 8-8, a half-game behind eighth-seeded Pasay.
Marvin Hayes posted 17 points, 11 rebounds, and one assist for Sarangani, which fell to 4-12.
