QUEZON CITY--Rain Or Shine dethroned La Salle as the Kadayawan Invitational Basketball Tournament champion after scoring a 138-116 blowout win in the final on Sunday night at the University of Southeastern Philippines Gym in Davao City.
Unlike their first meeting that went down the wire, the Elasto Painters made sure the Green Archers would not get another chance to steal the win, banking on their explosive offense to gradually blow the game wide open.
Aaron Fuller put up 34 points, while Andrei Caracut, who was named the MVP of the championship game, added 21 points, eight assists, and three steals for ROS, which finished the tournament 4-0.
Kevin Quiambao had 19 points to lead La Salle, which won it all last year when it was an all-collegiate event.
In the first game, Phoenix pipped Converge, 87-81, to claim third place.
The Fuel Masters ended the tournament with back-to-back wins after a 0-2 start, while the FiberXers lost their last three games after beating the Fuel Masters in their first meeting.
