MANILA—NLEX got back to its winning ways on Saturday night as its solid PBA Governors' Cup run was revived through a 112-108 overtime victory against San Miguel at the Aquilino Q. Pimentel Jr. International Convention Center in Cagayan De Oro.
Myke Henry capped a solid offensive game with the go-ahead layup that put the Road Warriors ahead, 105-104, with 1:38 left in the extension.
Richie Rodgers then scored on a layup off a Dave Marcelo block on CJ Perez to up the lead to three, 107-104, with 44.8 seconds remaining.
Jordan Adams scored on a quick layup to cut the lead down to one with 42.1 seconds left, but Robbie Herndon hit a long three to beat the shotclock buzzer to amp the gap back to four, 110-106, with 28.2 seconds left.
June Mar Fajardo scored on a quick layup to trim the lead anew to two, 110-108, with 25.9 seconds, but NLEX milked the clock a bit before Robert Bolick was fouled with 13.8 seconds to go.
Bolick made both free throws to bring their lead back to four.
Perez and Chris Ross tried to force another overtime, but they missed their four-point attempts, and Henry, despite hurting his hand while trying to evade a double team just before the play, grabbed the crucial rebound to seal the win.
Henry finished with 33 points on 14-of-27 shooting, six rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks for the Road Warriors, who moved up to second place in Group B at 3-1, a game behind the 4-0 Rain Or Shine Elasto Painters.
Robert Bolick added 20 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Jordan Adams finished with 36 points on 15-of-25 field goals, five rebounds, three assists, five steals, and one block for the Beermen, who fell to 2-2.
Perez flirted with a triple-double after tallying 29 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists with one steal and one block.
Fajardo put up 19 points, 17 rebounds, three assists, one block, and one steal.
