George King should be good to go against the Gin Kings. |
MANILA--George King is cleared to join Blackwater for their Friday night PBA Governors' Cup game against Ginebra at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
King was officially measured at six feet and 4.5 inches, well within the six-foot-six height limit for the season-opening conference, making him eligible to replace Ricky Ledo as the Bossing's import ahead of their 7:30 p.m. duel against the Gin Kings.
Known to be someone with a reliable perimeter game, King could be of great help in terms of spreading the floor for Blackwater
The same could not be said for Le'Bryan Nash as the supposed new Phoenix import missed the ceiling rule by a hairline.
Listed at six-feet-seven internationally but measured in the IBL at six-feet-four, the former RANS Simba Bogor swingman went over the six-foot-six cut by three-eighths of an inch.
Nash was supposed to replace Jay McKinnis as the Fuel Masters' foreign reinforcement after the latter was subpar during his first two games.
However, with Nash out and McKinnis essentially given the pink slip as he was not relegated to the injured reserve list, Phoenix, still winless this conference, might be forced to play all-Filipino against streaking Rain Or Shine, featuring burly import Aaron Fuller and rising star Jhonard Clarito, in the first game at 5 p.m.
The Fuel Masters have the option to activate Nash for the Commissioner's Cup as it will have no import height limit, but they are scrambling to find another import that should make the Governors' Cup height limit.
