MANILA--TNT came out firing in crunch time to take down Magnolia, 88-82, in their PBA Governors' Cup meeting on Thursday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Down two with 3:33 left, the Tropang Giga went on a 10-0 run sparked by a Rondae Hollis-Jefferson three and capped by a breakaway dunk from him as well to take an 88-80 lead with 31 seconds to go.
Zav Lucero went for a quick layup to draw the Hotshots to within six with 27.8 seconds left, but they just let the Tropang Giga run the clock afterward.
Paul Lee tried a corner three to cut the deficit further, but it went over the rim.
Hollis-Jefferson finished with 32 points, 19 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and one block to lead TNT, which now took the solo lead in Group A at 3-1.
Rey Nambatac added 15 points, five rebounds, and one assist.
Tre Robinson, after keeping in step with Hollis-Jefferson in terms of scoring in the first half, was held to only three points in the second half and finished with only 19 points alongside 15 rebounds, three assists, and one steal for Magnolia, which fell to 1-2.
